    Wounds bleeding, with no balm

Nor medicine to heal the wounds!

I lay down arms, but foes refuse,

Armoured as they are with arms' steel!

They cried out with bitter enmity

With swords' rule. With spears' rule!

They thought I was like birds' feathers

Facing raging winds in the air!

Nay, they were wrong, what a loss!

In ignorance challenging the Lord of winds!

I will hurl them into the abyss of misery

With no wings to match my might!

They will see the fearful evening

And won't see the dawn's light!

I will subjugate them with dignity

    Curbing the haughty aggressor!

When stupidity possesses the enemy's mind

    Bliss eludes him for good!

He walks to his doom cheerfully

And corruption dawns as good for him!

    I hoped for noble peace

I never hoped for shameless discord!

    For war is but destruction

    Merciless, and blood made lawful!

    The dignified knight shuns it

For its fervour is no joke

Many a gorgeous belle like a ray

When she saw me, dropped her veil!

I am no love-struck infatuated one

Crazed by worldly love and its anguish!

Nor by the wondrous wine of the moment

    Whose intoxication faded at dawn..!

Rather, I am infatuated with poetry

    Embroidering verse addressing yearning..!

It has a fragrance like the gardens' scent

Are their roses and tree-flowers better?!

How many gazelles have delighted my heart

And the wine-pourers charmed with songs' magic!

    With poetry towering over all

All bow to it like rain-drenched desert!

    True treasure sanctifying life's glory

As people revere the Holy Book's glory!

    Beauty hasn't set me free

    Nay.. I set beauty free!

If I fail in the world of relics

    How many successes have failed!
