1. أُحُدٌ سبيلُ الله سيناءُ النبيِّ

    الهاشميِّ ومصرع الأَوثان

    One's path is God's - Sinai of the Prophet,

    The Hashimite's and the idols' demise.

  2. أَلواحه هبطت سطورًا من دمٍ

    لما تناضلَ عندَهُ الحزبان

    Its tablets descended in lines of blood

    When the two parties contended by it.

  3. يمشي برايةِ «أحمدٍ» حزبُ الهدى

    والشرك يُزجيهِ أبو سفيانِ

    The party of guidance walks with Ahmad's banner,

    While polytheism whips it, led by Abu Sufyan.

  4. فَعَلا فحيح المشركينَ كأن في

    تلك الصدورِ جهنَّمَ الأضغان

    So the clamor of the polytheists roared as if

    In those chests lay hell's hottest blaze.

  5. والنيقُ ساهمةٌ تخبُّ هوادرًا

    يحدو الحنينُ بها إلى الأَعطان

    The lances are shooting stars that hide the skulls

    Which nostalgia propels toward rewards.

  6. والصاهلاتُ تلوك ألجمةَ الوغى

    وتشبُّ عند الكفِّ كالثعبان

    The howling women chew the thick of fray

    And flame, by the palm trees, like snakes.

  7. يمشونَ، والرمضاءُ ترقصُ في الفلا

    رقصَ السرابِ على بساطِ جمان

    They walk on while the glowing terrain dances

    The mirage's dance upon the sand mat.

  8. هزَجٌ هو الرعدُ الأجشُ، وزحفة

    كالموجِ فوق نواهدِ الكثبان

    A rumble is the thunderous herd, and their crawl

    Is like the waves above the dunes' mere ghosts.

  9. قد غضَّنت أحقادهم جَبَهاتهم

    فجباهُهم ودروعهم سيَّانِ

    Their hatreds have wrinkled their brows,

    So their foreheads and armors are equal.

  10. نار الضغائن قد أَطَلَّتْ من كوى

    دعجِ العيون، ذكية اللهبان

    The fire of resentments has sparked from the hearths

    Of their inflamed eyes, lit up with flames.

  11. فكأنما في كلِّ عين فحمةٌ

    دكناءُ صابرة على النيران

    It's as if, in each eye, an ember -

    Darkly patient over fires - lay.

  12. تلكم قريش جمَّعت أَحلافها

    واستنجدتْ، للعارِ، بالحبشان

    Such are Quraysh, who knit their pacts

    And - disgraced - sought help from Abyssinians.

  13. من كل موشومٍ قليلِ تسربلٍ

    رحبِ الرداء، مشمِّر الأردان

    From each tattooed, meagerly clad one

    With a robe's breadth, twisting his turban,

  14. بلحى مهدَّبةِ الحواشي أُطْلِقتْ

    مخضوبة السبلات بالحنَّان

    With trimmed, frizzy beards let loose -

    Dyed mustaches with henna,

  15. وذوائب معقوصة ملتفة

    مثل الأفاعي حولَ كلِّ جران

    And braided pigtails coiled up

    Like snakes around every neck,

  16. متذامرين إلى اللقاء قوافلًا

    من كل ذي هلبٍ له خفان

    Traveling to battle in caravans -

    Every bare-assed one wearing his shoes,

  17. يتنفَّشون قنافذًا مذعورة

    وإِذا عدوا عُصُبًا فكالذؤبان

    Scampering like frightened hedgehogs,

    And if counted, throngs like wolves,

  18. ونساؤهم بين الصفوف عوارمًا

    بدفوفهنَّ، وزغرداتِ هجان

    While their women, between the lines, evils -

    With their tambourines and young girls' singing,

  19. سقنَ الرجال إلى الضلالِ فهملجوا

    ويح الرجال تقادُ بالنسوان

    They led the men astray, so they plunged in misguidance,

    And Alas for men led by women!

  20. هدَّدنهم بتفارقٍ إن ينثنوا

    فاستقتلوا وهم ذوو نَزَوان

    They threatened them with separation if they fallback,

    So they attacked though inconsistent.

  21. عربٌ إِذا ما الجاهلية نفَّختْ

    أوداجها كرُّوا خيولَ رهان

    Bedouins - if ignorance puffed up

    Its udders - they'd race their betting horses.

  22. يتسابقون إلى حياض الموت كالأ

    طيارِ نافرةً إلى الغدران

    They'd compete to death's troughs like

    Birds fleeing together to betrayal.

  23. دهموا الرسول فما ألانَ جناحَهُ

    للكاثرين وقامَ كالصفوان

    They attacked the Messenger but he didn't soften

    His wing for the many, and stood like an anvil,

  24. متماسكٌ إيمانه، مستوثقٌ

    وجدانه، من ربِّه الحنَّان

    His faith coherent, his conscience sound,

    From his Lord, the Merciful.

  25. سر يا محمدُ لا تخف غمراتِها

    فستنجلي عن قدرة الربَّان

    Walk on, O Muhammad - don't fear their darkness,

    It will recede before the Omnipotent's might.

  26. وأمامك الميناءُ بسَّام اللمى

    فاضربْ بجؤجؤها العباب القاني

    And ahead of you the harbor smiles

    Its greeting, so strike with its ringing stones

  27. «والريح» بين يديك يُرسلها الذي

    يطوي الوجودَ بأمرهِ الملَوَان

    The thickets. And "the wind" - He who

    Furls existence by His Absolute command - sends before you.
