أتحزَنُ والسعادةُ عند ربي

ستَهطِلُ بعدَ أحزانٍ ثقيلة

Do I grieve when happiness is with my Lord,

It will pour down after heavy sorrows.

أتجزَعُ والبشائِرُ قادِماتٌ

لِتَشفي الجرحَ والروحَ العليلة

Do I despair when glad tidings are coming,

To heal the wound and the ailing soul.

أتظمأُ والغديرُ هناكَ باقٍ!

غدًا يجري لِتَشربَ سلسبيله!

Do I thirst when the pond is still there!

Tomorrow it will flow to quench its trickle!

غداً يأتي الصباحُ بكُل شوقٍ

ودِفءٍ خلفَ نِسمَتهِ العليلة

Tomorrow the morning comes with all longing

And warmth behind its ailing breeze.

وروحكَ سوفَ تحتضِنُ الأماني

وإن كانت تراها مُستحيلة!

And your soul will embrace wishes

Even if you see them as impossible!

فقُل لفؤادكَ الموجوعِ صبراً

فخلفَ الصبرِ أشياءٌ جميلة

So say to your aching heart: patience,

For behind patience are beautiful things.
