لا تملأُ الأحزانُ في الدُّنيا سِوَى

قلبٍ يعيشُ مِن التفاؤل مُعدَما

Sorrow fills the world

Except for a heart that lives devoid of optimism

كم عثْرةٍ كتَبَتْ نهايةَ طامحٍ

فقدَ السعادة بعدها وتحطَّما

How many a stumble has written the end of an ambitious one

Who lost happiness after it and was shattered

كم ضلّ قلبٌ بالقنوطِ طريقهُ

كم عاشَ في الدنيا أُناسٌ كالدّمى!

How many a heart has lost its way with despair

How many people have lived in the world like statues!

عجزوا عن الأحلام وهي يسيرةٌ

والعجزُ كلّ العجزِ ألّا نحلُما

They failed at dreams though dreams are easy

And the greatest failure is that we do not dream

فانفض غبار اليأسِ عنك فرُبما

يومًا ستحتضِنُ السما والأنجُما

So shake off the dust of despair perhaps

One day the sky and stars will embrace you

إن كُنتَ لا ترضى لروحك مَوتَها

فلتسقِها كي لا تموتَ مِن الظما

If you do not wish your soul its death

Quench its thirst so it does not die of thirst

واصعد بها نحو السماء وقُل لها

ما جِئتُ للدنيا لكي أستَسلِما

And ascend with it to the sky and say to it

I did not come to this world just to surrender
