لعَمري كم صبَرنا واحتمَلْنا

شتاءَ العُمرِ ننتظرُ الربيعا

How long we have endured and put up with,

The winter of life while awaiting spring.

فلا بردُ الشتاءِ مضى سريعًا

ولا وردُ الربيعِ أتى مُطيعا

Neither has the coldness of winter departed swiftly,

Nor has the rose of spring arrived obediently.

فصِرنا كالطيورِ نطيرُ خوفاً

ونلتحِفُ الفضا نخشى الوقوعا

We have become like birds flying in fear,

And taking cover in the sky fearing a fall.

وبِتْنا نكتمُ الأوجاع فينا

ونحبسُ في مآقينا الدموعا

We started concealing the pains inside us,

And holding back our tears in our tragedies.

وليسَ لنا سوى صبرٍ جميلٍ

يداوي الروحَ والنبضَ الوجيعا

We have nothing left but beautiful patience,

That heals the soul and the aching pulse.

إذا ما الحبُّ في الأعماقِ عانى

مِن الإهمالِ أوشكَ أن يضيعا

If love in the depths suffers,

From neglect and is about to be lost.

فإن ضِعنا وضاعَ الحبّ منّا

فلن نرضى مردًّا أو رجوعا

If we grow weak and love is lost from us,

We shall not accept defeat or retreat.
