في شارع سَمَّوْهُ باسم: البحتري

The eloquent poet, the gentle one, the genius

On a street they named: Al-Buhturi

فسألت: أيُّ الشاعرين مرادُهم؟

قد حرت في هذا، وزاد تحيري!

So I asked: which of the two poets is meant?

I was confused by this, and my bewilderment grew!

فَرسَا رِهَانٍ؛ ليس بَيْنَ كليهما

من فارق غيرُ اختلاف الأعْصُر

A bet was placed; between the two of them

There is no difference but the ages in which they lived
