Let me escape from the world of worries
And roam in the kingdom of God's throne
Leave the deceits of fate, O soul; I
Want to search for a decent living
You have tested me for a long time
Yet I have reaped nothing but fragments
So give me your reins, and follow me
As I guide you to the straight path
O soul, if you were pure one day
You would be gentler than a soft breeze
You have flown in the unknown of light
Yet walked not on the face of the land
You almost flew with the Pleiades
And took a tower in the clouds
You realized what bellies of books
Do not contain of various sciences
Truths were not hidden from you though
They were hidden from minds and senses
Nothing distracted you from your fate
And you wished nothing but God's content
O soul, woe to you! You are not my soul
If you try to attack my enemy!
Remove hatred from my chest's sides
And be kind to loved ones and foes
Be like drops of water, or like
The scent of a flower, or the twinkle of stars
When war breaks out over provisions
Leave the provisions aside, and fast
Let me live but with my soul
For death is prescribed for bodies
Love every living soul; do not
Restrict your love to the handsome
When, O soul, do you not show arrogance
At what you have achieved of great glory?
When will I find you not paying attention
To the major disasters that afflict you?
The universe rages around you
While you smile at a precious pearl
By your Lord, how many cups of comfort
Radiant and others of hell you have drunk?
Was not sorrow and good news just
Like shadows of clouds and mist?
And every pleasure fades, and remains
The possessions of eternity in the House of Bliss
When misfortunes grow dark, illuminate yourself
With God's light in the immense night
And always, if you want God as a treasure
Be pious, and do not slack from it
And do not listen to the whisper of wishes
Otherwise, you will live in constant worry
It is enough for you a chain of Paradise as comfort
And a flock of maidens enough as your boon!
Where are the maidens compared to the regret of sin
And the wine of immortality to vines' milk?
With all my heart I turned to God
And I ask Him to return to the masses
I asked God for more blessings
For the wealthy, and ease for the poor
I asked God to completely erase disease
So eyes do not fall upon the sick
I asked God for freedom for the suffering
And the kindness of a mother and father for the orphan
I asked God for the world to have peace
Where the lion lives with the weak
Had I not known my status
I would have asked God about the people of Hell
And said to Him: Do You burn people with fire
When You have named Yourself The Merciful?
