O neighbor of the Nile, may God welcome you

We do not consider you strangers in Egypt

You have descended among a group of your kinsmen

And have visited homelands instead of homelands

When you descended upon cultured Egypt

Its foundations and walls almost bid you welcome

We honor in your persons a homeland

If Egypt were depicted as an eye, it would be a human being

The Nile, God has unified its valley

Why then should we divide it: Egypt and Sudan?
