بالبحر قيلولة والشوق أختنق
للنوم حيلولة والحب مختنقُ
With longing I'm choking at sea's nap
To sleep I've no path, while love's in a trap
وصرت أبصر منه القلب محترقاً
والروح والجسم والفؤاد يحترق
My heart burnt I see, from its pain
My soul, flesh and heart set aflame
وصار قرُّ البحور الشمس مندفقاً
والحر في الشمس والفؤاد يندفق
The sea's expanse by sun penetrated
In heat, heart and sun suffocated
والقوم سابقهم للحي ملتحقا
ولاحق سابقاً كفاه يلتحق
Some raced to live, joined and intact
Others raced but couldn't keep pact
والشوق آخره أولاه مستبقاً
وسابق كان لا في السبق يستبق
Desire's end and start are in race
Leaders once now cannot keep pace
والجسم من باطني للروح مرتمقا
وباطني روحه في الشوق يرتمق
My flesh relies on soul for life
My soul relies on love's deep strife
والسر منه الذي مصيره حنقا
ولو أري حنقاً لأذهب الحنق
A secret that surely will lead to spite
If I see spite, I will end the plight
من ذكره لفتاة ليس مختفقاً
معها الفؤاد وإن ينقل فيختفق
Speaking of a girl, no care if apart
Though my heart stirs, pulled by its strings taut
كأنما الشمس إذ تكون مبتزقاً
من لونها بزقت واللون يبتزق
The sun takes a hue, it seems to me
From its color, it sucked color free
وإن علا البدر في الهواء مبتسقاً
كأنَّ منها المحيا فيه يبتسق
The moon floats on high, fully sipped
It seems her cheeks all its light ripped
وإن تر البرق في الظلام مبترقاً
كأنه ثغرها في الليل يبترق
Lightning splits dark, a cheek it flaunts
As if her mouth the dark night taunts
والراح مُزجىً ببرد السحب مبتصقاً
كأنه ثغرها بالرشف يبتصق
Breeze is chilled by clouds oh so frore
Like her mouth that sips the dew drops galore
والمسك حيث يفوح نشره عبقاً
كأنه نفسها والنفس تعتبق
Musk spreads fragrance, is ecstasy's token
Like her breath, the soul it has taken
والسهم في وقعه بالجسم مرتشقا
كأنه لحظها في القلب يرتشق
The arrow that pierces flesh quick as light
Seems like her glance, heart its flight
وجعلها ذهباً مرونقاً ورقا
يحسن به ذهبٌ ويحسن الوَرِقُ
Made her gold, radiant and bright
By her beauty gold and silver are trite
أيامنا والليالي يأتيا نسقاً
وكلما نسقا فوبُّها نسقُ
Our days and nights always come in line
As they align, their rhythm is fine
وليس قلبي في الأنام معتشقا
لغيرها غير من لله يعتشقُ
My heart loves none but the Divine
And her, for she is worthy of my pine
غوث الطريقة بعد عدمها عتقا
غيث الخليقة فهو غيثها العتق
The path's salvation from ending in loss
A downpour of mercy, flood to emboss
خير الأنام وبحر العلم مختسقاً
وحيثما قد رمى في الرأي يختسقُ
Best of mankind, knowledge's great sea
Wisdom fishes wherever his throw flows free
بحر الأيادي وفُلْكُ البحر منفلقا
ومنه في الغيب والحسي ينفلق
Sea of generosity, ship wrecking norms
He splits facts and secrets like lightning forms
سيف الإله على الأعادِ منخزقا
ومن سهام له في الرمي يختزق
God's sword destructive of every curse
From his arrows thrown enemies nurse
مولى النوال على الموال منسحقاً
نواله للعفاةِ حيثما انسحقوا
To the poor his gift keeps pouring ceaseless
Wherever they fall, raises those helpless
هو الجوادُ الذي في مهله سبقا
سبق الجياد إذا الجياد قد سبقوا
He's bounty's tide, outpacing all
Horses raced by him, he passed them all
هو التقي السخي الخِرْقُ منطبقا
هو الخضمُّ هو الهاضوم ينطبق
The honest, generous, right to the brim
He is the protector, strong, stout of limb
هو الهمام سميذع متى خلقا
وهْوَ الأريبُ هو الجحجاح مختلق
Valiant, intrepid, created unique
Struck tyrants down however mighty or bleak
حلاحلٌ مدرةٌ منجزٌ خلقا
ولوذعيٌّ سريٌّ مصقعٌ خَلِقُ
Decisive, bold, skilled and adept
More than experts, his knowledge kept
والأريحي حسيب مجده انطلقا
وماجدٌ وهُوَ الصِّنديد ينطلقُ
Reviver of Law, which had met its demise
Its staunchest guardian, like a firm tie
وصِمةٌ بطلٌ ذَمَرْكَمٍ دهقاً
كل الطغاة ومنه الطاغي مدّهقُ
Creation's axis, path's fork converged
Division or union, in him fully merged
ومغشم بُهْمةٌ شهمٌ وقد حذقا
حَزْوراً علم ما الأقحاح قد حذقوا
Knowledge and forbearance always paired
Justice and charity perfectly squared
محيي الشريعة بعد عدمها وهقا
وهو الوثيق لها كأنه الوهق
Sun, moon, night and day all elated
Striving their best to match how he's created
قطب الوجود عليه دار مفترقاً
والفرق والجمع فيه ليس يفترق
والعلم والحلم دائمان متفقا
والعدل والبذل فيه الكل يتفق
والشمسُ والقمرُ الليلُ النهارُ رَقَى
كلٌّ يضاهي له إكمال ما شرقوا
