Indeed, the blood of Banū al-Ḥiṣn was held lawful to shed
Indeed the sons of al-Ḥiṣn — their blood was made lawful, spilled at will,

by Banū Asad, her men of war, and Wālibah after them.
It was they who lopped off the proud, lofty nose—utterly;
It was they who lopped away the proud, high nose, and hacked it off to the root,

who severed the hump and stripped it bare, and took the withers with it.

Perhaps a blow of fate will yet come round to meet him.
