أَلا ذَهَبَ الحُلاّلُ في القَفَرات
وَمَن يَملأُ الجَفناتِ في الجَحَراتِ
The polished have gone forth into the wastes,
Who then shall quench their thirst in the pits?
وَمَن يُرجِعُ الرُمحَ الأَصمَّ كُعوبُهُ
عَليهِ دِماءُ القَومِ كَالشَقِراتِ
Who shall return the stricken spear its barbs?
Upon it is the people's blood like motes.
