God give me strength, I endured with affection

No one upset me or lightened my burden

منه العذاب و زايد الشوق مني

His love slaughtered me, if only I did not ignite

With passion for him, increasing my longing

لا قلت أبسلى رغبتي ما تمكنت

If only I could soothe my desire, I could not

لو إني من اول للغرابيل ثمَّنت
