انا شاقني بالحيل منظر حمام شهار

صلاة العصر يوم انحدر بأسفل الوادي..

The sight of doves at eventide ensnared me,

The afternoon prayer, as they descended into the valley below...

لحظني شبكني ثم قفّى وانا محتار

دفعني غرامي له على غير معتادي..

They seduced and captivated me, then bid adieu as I stood confused,

My passion for them impelled me, contrary to my habit...

تطاير حمام الشوق والقلب مني طار

تلاعب جناحه بالهوى لعب بفوادي..

Doves of yearning took flight, and my heart flew away,

Their wings toyed with love, playing tricks on my inner self...

أنا امّا حصلي يا سعد يمهم مسيار

تراهم سبب ذبحي إلَى جاك نشَّادي

For me, my destiny is set, O Saad, towards a grim end,

They will cause my slaughter, O Jak, my confidant...
