فخرت بنو الغزّي فيه وإنه

شهم تقر بفضله الثقلان

The people of Ghazi take pride in him, for he

Is valiant, and his superiority is acknowledged by nobles and commoners alike.

حبر تسلسل من سلالة ماجد

من بيت مجد شيد بالإيمان

He traces his lineage to a succession of glorious ancestors

From a house of glory built on faith.

قوم إذا آب النزيل ببابهم

فهناك يأمن من يد الحدثان

A people, when the wayfarer comes to their abode,

There he finds safety from the hands of the unruly.

ملك إذا هاجت بحار نواله

يخشى على الدنيا من الطوفان

A king whose seas of bounty are churned

The world fears a deluge from his flood.
