A tale came to me, and I denied it,
And it was said your friend is at Al-Marms.
So oh eye, cry for the meadows of dew
The meadows of sorrows and council.
And a mighty day of clashing irons
Where souls are severed by their blades.
You prayed with it, and the iron was upon you
From Sal‘ to Al-A‘ras.
So you sacrificed yourself on the day of battle
And your clothes, unsoiled, were not dirtied.
