Arise, soothe anxiety with wine
For liquor is the remedy for sorrows
Bring it, o lad, pure
Reddish, yellowish wine
A morning of respite has dawned upon him
In the orbit of baseness, a night of rest
A body of light you see appearing
As sights in a shirt of fire
From a palm thickened with intertwined branches
And blushing and scattering sparks
A firm branch on a sand dune
And a night of hair upon daybreak
In the rose of his cheek, for him a picker
Basil of his temple, for it an orbit
Masculinized by enmity and duality
Feminized of feeling, like maidens
If he quenched with small cups morning draughts
His eyes quenched him with large cups
No excuse for one who saw him
Yet did not cast off modesty
I drank from his cup an antidote
And from his lips like antidotes
Until when enjoyment relaxed him
And drunkenness contracted him painfully
And mingled with the rose and apple of his cheek
So it doubled him with embers
We spent the night and a wrapper enclosed us
By God, what is enclosed in the wrapper!
So think what you will of me, for I
Came to what you wished of loss
