بِأَبِي وَأُمِّي زَائِرٌ مُتَقَنِّعٌ
لَمْ يَخْفَ ضَوْءُ الشَّمْسِ تَحْتَ قِنَاعِهِ
By my father and mother, a masked visitor
The light of the sun did not hide under his mask
لَمْ أَسْتَتِمَّ عِنَاقَهُ لِقُدُومِهِ
حَتَّى ابْتَدَأْتُ عِنَاقَهُ لِوَدَاعِهِ
I did not finish embracing him for his arrival
Until I started embracing him for his departure
فَمَضَى وَأَبْقَى فِي فُؤادِي حَسْرَةً
تَرَكَتْهُ مَوْقُوفَاً عَلَى أَوْجَاعِهِ
So he left and left in my heart a regret
That left it suspended in its pains
