أَعَاذَ اللَّهُ شَكْوَاكَ

وَأَهْدَى لَكَ إفْرَاقَا

May God protect your complaint

And guide you to separation

خَرَجْنَا أَمْسِ لِلْصَّيْدِ

وَكُنَّا فِيْهِ حُذَّاقَا

We went out yesterday to hunt

And in it we were skilled

فَسَمَّيْنَا وَأَرْسَلْنَا

عَلَى بَخْتِكَ إِطْلاَقَا

So we took aim and released

Upon your good fortune unleashed

فَجَادَ اللَّهُ بِالرِّزْقِ

وَكَانَ اللَّهُ رَزَّاقَا

God granted abundant sustenance

And God was the Sustainer

وَأَحْرَزْنَا مِنَ الدُّرَّا

جِ مَا الرَّحْلُ بِهِ ضَاقَا

We gained from the pearls

What the saddlebags were too narrow for

فَأَطْعَمْتُ وَأَهْدَيْتُ

إِلى الْمَطْبَخِ أَوْ سَاقَا

So I fed and gifted

To the kitchen or leg

وَخَيْرُ اللَّحْمِ مَا أَقْلَ

قَهُ الْجَارِحُ إِقْلاَقا

The best meat is what the predator

Swallowed in gulps

وَذُو العَادَةِ لِلْصَّيْدِ

إِذَا أَبْصَرَهُ تَاقَا

And the hunting accustomed

When he saw it, coveted

فَيَغْذُوهُ بِمَا كَانَ

إِلَيْهِ الدَّهْرَ مُشْتَاقَا

So he feeds him what he had

Through time pined for

فَكُلْ مِنْهُ شَفَاكَ اللَّ

هُ مَشْوِيَّاً وَإِمْرَاقَا

So eat from it, may God cure you

Roasted or boiled

فَهَذَا الحِفْظُ لِلْصِّحَّ

ةِ لا تَدْبِيْرُ إِسْحَاقَا

For this preservation is for health

Not managing deprivation
