O my two friends, keep me away from pure wine.
Indeed, I cannot endure pure wine.
I have become certain that it delights the soul
and opens a path to joy.
Yet I have found that the cup has a fire
that inflames the body and the delicate constitution.
So whenever I bring it together with drinking companions,
it scorches me fiercely with its fire.
