أَقْبَلَت في غِلالةٍ زرقاء
زرقةً لقِّبت بجري الماءِ
She approached in a gauzy robe of blue—
a blue nicknamed “the flowing of water.”
فتأَمَّلَتْ في الغلالة منها
جَسَد النورِ في قميص الهواءِ
And through the gauze I contemplated in her
a body of light in a shirt of air.
هي بدرٌ وإن أحسنَ لونٍ
ظهر البدرُ فيه لونُ السماءِ
She is a full moon—and the loveliest hue
in which the moon may appear is the sky’s own blue.
