لَمَّا رَأَيْتُ النيُّورُوزَ سُنَّتُهُ
صَبُّ مِيَاهٍ وَشَبُّ نِيْرَانِ
When I saw Nowruz, its tradition
Pouring water and lighting fire
نَوْرَزْتُ وَحْدِي وَالشَّوْقُ يُقْلِقُنِي
بِنَارِ قَلْبِي وَمَاءِ أَجْفَانِي
I celebrated alone, and yearning disquiets me
With the fire of my heart and the water of my eyelids
