رَنَتْ فَأَصَابَتْ سِرَّ قلبي بِلَحْظَةٍ
لَهَا في الحَشَى لَذْعٌ وَلَيْسَ لَهَا جُرْحُ
She glanced and touched a secret chamber of my heart
With a sting inside the ribs but left no outward hurt;
وَقَدْ حَسَرَتْ عن واضِحِ الفَرْقِ فاحِمٍ
كَخَطَّيْ ظَلاَمٍ شُقَّ بَيْنَهُما صُبْحُ
And drew the veil from features lit with inner fire
Like twin black lines of night parted by morning's light.
