1. أُنَاسٌ أَعْرَضُوا عَنَّا

    بِلاَ جُرْمٍ وَلاَ مَعْنَى

    People turned away from us

    With no fault or meaning

  2. أَسَاءُوا ظَنَّهُمْ فِيْنَا

    فَهَلاَّ أَحْسَنُوا الظَّنَّا

    They mistook their judgment of us

    Why did they not think well of us

  3. وَخَلَّوْنَا وَلَوْ شَاءُوا

    لَكَانُوا كَالَّذِي كُنَّا

    And left us, though if they wished

    They would have been as we were

  4. فَإِنْ عَادُوا لَنَا عُدْنَا

    وَإِنْ خَانُوا فَمَا خُنَّا

    If they return to us, we'll return

    If they betray, we did not betray

  5. وَإِنْ كَانُوا قَدِ اسْتَغْنُوا

    فَإِنَّا عَنْهُمُ أَغْنَى

    If they became self-sufficient

    We are more self-sufficient than them
