1. وَمُكَابِدٍ حَالاً يُسَدِّدُهَا

    وَيَرُمُّ ظَاهِرَهَا بِبَاطِنِهَا

    And one who endures adversity correcting it

    And casts aside its façade with its essence

  2. حَسَدَتْهُ عَيْنٌ مِنْ تَأَمُّلِهَا

    وَالرَّحْمُ خَافٍ فِي مَكَامِنِهَا

    An eye envied him from its contemplation

    While gentleness is dormant in its retreats

  3. وَإِذَا امْرُؤٌ حَسُنَتْ مُرُوءَتُهُ

    كَمَنَ التَّأَلُمُ فِي مَحَاسِنِهَا

    And when a man of noble character

    There is no pain in its virtues

  4. فَمَحَا غَضَاضَةَ سُوءِ مَخْبَرِهَا

    حَمْدُ الحَسَادَةِ مِنْ مُعَايِنِهَا

    It wipes away the bitterness of its ill tidings
