1. وَصُفْرٍ مِنْ بَنَاتِ النَّحْلِ تُكْسَى

    بَوَاطِنُهَا وَأَظْهُرُهَا عَوَارِي

    Clothed in saffron are the interiors and exteriors of the daughters of bees

    Maidens bursting from the heights

  2. عَذَارَى يُفْتَضَضْنَ مِنَ الأَعَالِي

    إِذَا افْتُضَّتْ مِنَ السُّفْلِ العَذَاري

    When the maidens burst from below

    And no lights do they produce until

  3. وَلَيْسَتْ تُنْتِجُ الأَضْوَاءَ حَتَّى

    تُلَقَّحُ فِي ذَوَائِبِهَا بِنَارِ

    Pollinated in their curves with fire

    Like stars of oral tradition falling silent about you

  4. كَوَاكِبُ لَسْنَ عَنْكَ بِآفِلاَتٍ

    إِذَا مَا أَشْرَقَتْ شَمْسُ العُقَارِ

    When the sun of the Pleiades rises

    I sent it to a generous king

  5. بَعَثْتُ بِهَا إِلَى مَلِكٍ كَرِيْمٍ

    شَرِيْفِ الأَصْلِ مَحْمُودِ النِّجَارِ

    Noble of origin, praised of carpentry

    So I gifted illumination through it to one whose

  6. فَأَهْدَيْتُ الضِّيَاءَ بَهَا إِلَى مَنْ

    مَحَاسِنَهُ تُضِيءُ لِكُلِّ سَارِي

    Beauties give light to every firmament
