سَأَصْرِفُ عَنْكِ يَا دُنْيَايَ وَجْهِي
وَأَبْغِضُ مِنْكَ مَا قَدْ كُنْتُ أَهْوَى
I will turn my face away from you, O life
And hate what I had loved of you before
بَلَوْتُ مَشَارِبَاً لَكِ مُتْرَعَاتٍ
عَلَى ظَمَإِ فَلَمْ أَرَ فِيْكِ صَفْوَا
I have tasted your waters in many a spring
Thirsting, but found no sweetness there
