1. غَيْمُ مَدَامِعِهِ تَفِيْضُ

    وَثِيَابُهُ سُودٌ وَبِيْضُ

    His tears overflow

    His clothes black and white

  2. يَبْكِي فَيَضْحَكُ مِنْ طَوِيْ

    لِ بُكَائِهِ الرَّوْضُ الأَرِيْضُ

    He weeps then laughs gently

    For his crying the garden is delighted

  3. وَلَدَيَّ إِخْوَانٌ قَرَا

    ئِحُهُمْ بُحُورٌ لاَتَغِيْضُ

    I have brothers who recite

    Their eulogies oceans that do not dry up

  4. وَلَنَا مُغَنٍّ جَلَّ قَدْ

    رَاً أَنْ يَشَاكِلَهُ الغَرِيْضُ

    We have a renowned singer

    None can equal his melody

  5. وَالرًّاحُ قَدْ عَزَّتْ عَلَى الشُّ

    عَرَاءِ مُذْ ذَلَّ القَرِيْضُ

    The wind has prevailed over the poets

    Since the ode waned

  6. وَعَلَيْكَ عَوَّلَ فِي النَّدَى

    مَنْ رَاحَ لَيْسَ بِهِ نُهُوضُ

    In benevolence, you are relied upon

    By one who walks without vigor

  7. وَلأَنْتَ مَرْجَاةُ المُرَجِّ

    ي عٍنْدَهُ الجَاهُ العَرِيْضُ

    You are the hope of the hopeful

    With abundant favor

  8. فَامْنُنْ بِهَا حَمْرَاءَ يَحْ

    سُدُ مِسْكَهَا الطِّيْبُ الرَّضِيْضُ

    So grant with a red camel

    Whose musk the finest perfume would envy

  9. واعْلَمْ بِأَنَّ صَنَائِعَ ال

    مَعْرُوفِ أَكْثَرُهَا قُرُوضُ

    And know that the works

    Of kindness are but loans
