1. تَرَاهُ فِي الصَّدْرِ مِنْ خَسَاسَتِهِ

    كَأَنَّهُ فِي أَوَاخِرِ المَجْلِسْ

    You see him, because of his baseness

    As if at the end of the gathering -

  2. لا يَفْهَمُ القَوْلَ فِي الخِطَابِ وَلاَ

    يُفْهِمُهُ فَهْوَ أَبْكَمُ أَخْرَسْ

    He understands not the words of address,

    Nor makes them understood - he is mute, deaf.

  3. يَحْكُمُ فِي مِصْرَ والشَّامِ وَقَدْ

    كَانَ كَثِيْرَاً بِمِثْلِهِ يَحْرَسْ

    He rules Egypt and Syria though he

    Often used to stand guard over the likes of them.
