قُلْ لِلْمَلِيْحَةِ فِي الخِمَارِ الأكْحَلِ

كَالشَّمْسِ مِنْ خَلَلِ الغَمَامِ المُنْجَلِي

Tell the beauty in the dark veil

Like the sun through the slanted clouds

بِحَيَاةِ حُسْنِكِ أَحْسِنِي وَبِحَقِّ مَنْ

جَعَلَ الجَمَالَ عَلَيْكِ وَقْفَاً أَجْمِلِي

By the life of your beauty, be good and by the right of Him

Who made beauty incumbent upon you, be most beautiful

لاَ تَقْبَلِي قَوْلَ الوُشَاةِ فَإِنَّنِي

لَمْ أُصْغِ فِيْكِ إِلَى مَقَالِ العُذَّلِ

Do not accept the words of backbiters, for I

Did not listen to the words of slanderers about you

إِنِّي اُعِيْذُكِ أَنْ يُكَدِّرَ آخِرٌ

بِمَقَالَةِ الوَاشِيْنَ صَفْوَ الأَوَّلِ

I seek refuge for you from another who would trouble

The clearness of the first with the words of slanderers
