1. ولاحَ رُمّانُنُا فَزَيّنَنا

    بَيْنَ صَحِيحٍ وَبَيْنَ مَفْتُوتِ

    The fragrant pomegranates blossomed

    between the ripe and unripe ones.

  2. مِنْ كُلَّ مُصْفَرّةٍ مُزَعْفَرَةٍ

    تَفُوقُ في الحُسْنِ كُلّ مَنْعُوتِ

    Of every yellow, saffron-hued one

    surpasses in beauty all idols.

  3. كأنها حُقَّةٌ فإن فُتِحَتْ

    فَصُرَّةٌ من فُصُوصِ يَاقُوتِ

    It's as though each is a sealed packet -

    open it, a chinese box of rubies.
