Time played a trick on me in my forelock,
My life has clad me in my prime
with a gray hair whose shame it made me wear,
With a grey garment of disgrace.
and with it dismayed the fair women before
Before the whiteness could depart
the oryx-like beauties could fulfill their desires with me.
My hair proclaimed its resting place.
So now I never neglect to conceal it,
So now I am ever covering it,
whereas once I never neglected to display it.
Though once I kept showing it off.
