فَحْمٌ أَنَارَتْ نَارُهُ
فَتَضَرَّمَتْ فِيْهِ حَرِيَقَا
Charcoal—its fire shone,
I glow with fire within
then flared within it in a blaze.
And blaze in fervent heat
فَكَأَنَّهَا وَكَأَنَّهُ
سَبَجٌ قَرَنْتَ بِهِ عَقِيْقَا
So the fire and the charcoal seemed
As though I and the flame
like obsidian to which you joined agate.
