God commanded you as the scriptures commanded you
And poetry approaches in fear, then withdraws
I swear by God, oh my mother, I compose no verse
Except it were a station above what I can describe
My field of letters grows green when laden
With clouds, and pleasant scents are plucked for my mother
They said the mother is a school, and I said through her
All schools are but courts where she stands
As if the mother, beyond description, is described
If I say poetry about mother, it stands up apologetic
