كَشَفْتِ كِمَامَةً فَأَنَرْتِ لَيْلًا

بِمَا أَبْدَيْتِ مِنْ حَبِّ اللَّآلِي

You unveiled like the moon, illuminating the night

With the love of beauty you displayed

وبَسْمَتُكِ الَّتِي اشْتَقْنَا إِلَيْها

رَأَيْناها ، وَكانَتْ في الخَيالِ

Your smile that we longed for

We saw it, though it was but a dream

إِلَى شَفَتَيْكِ كانَ القُرْبُ حَظْرًا

فَصارَ اليَوْمَ فِي حُكْمِ الحَلالِ

Your lips were forbidden to approach

Today they are lawful to kiss

وهذا الثَّغْرُ كَمْ أَخْفَى حَكايَا

فَهاتِي ما خَبَأْتِ مَدَى اللَّيَالِي

What stories has your mouth concealed

Reveal what's hidden throughout the nights

ورُدِّي الدَّيْنَ لِلْعُشَّاقِ مِمَّا

وَعَدْتِ وَما وفَيْتِ مِنَ الوِصَالِ !

Repay the debt to lovers for what

You promised but didn't fulfill of union

عَلَى الوَجْهَيْنِ مِنْ سَتْرٍ وكَشْفٍ

لِوَجْهِكِ يَرْتَقِي أَوْجُ الجَمال ِ

Both faces, of veil and reveal

Yours attains the peak of beauty

ولَوْ شاءَ الكَمالَ لِوَجْهِ خَلْقٍ

لَخَصَّ اللهُ وَجْهَكِ بِالكَمَالِ !

Had perfection been meant for a face

God would have granted only yours perfection
