جرت رحم بيني وبين منازل

سواء كما يستنزل الغيث طالبه

The days have flowed between me and my dwellings

As rain flows to the seeker of rain

وربيت حتى صار جلداً شمردلا

إذا قام ساوى قائم النخل غاربه

And I raised him until he became a young man, tall and slender

When he stands, he equals the towering date palm

فلما استوى من عنفوان شبابه

واقبل كالرمح الرديني خاطبه

Then when he reached the pride of his youth

And approached like a well-balanced spear aimed at me

تهضمني مالي كذا ولوى يدي

لوى يده اللَه الذي هو غالبه

He dismissed my wealth and authority and turned against me

May God turn against him, for He is the Conquerer
