1. هذه الموجة من هذا الخضم

    فيضان زاخر بين الأمم

    This wave amidst the tumult

    An abundant outpouring among nations

  2. ومن الموجة فاضت لجة

    تكسح الذل وتجتاح الرمم

    And from the wave overflowed a surge

    That sweeps away humiliation and demolishes ruins

  3. بين صيحات تعالت مثلما

    يقذف البركان أشلاء الحمم

    Among cries that rose as

    The volcano spews embers of flames

  4. والتقى التيار وانساح كما

    تحضن العالم أمواه الخضم

    The currents met and flowed as

    The world embraces waters of the tumult

  5. من دجا العسف بدا مولدها

    كانبعاث الفجر من كهف الظلم

    From the gloom of oppression its dawn emerged

    Like the sunrise from the cave of darkness

  6. شهد التاريخ كم من فاتح

    لطخ الأرض وعادى وانتقم

    History witnessed many a conqueror

    Who stained the earth, transgressed, and avenged

  7. من جنون العسف يمشي

    ثملاً فاجر الإحساس تياه القدم

    In the madness of oppression he walks

    Drunk, numb in feeling, wandering in steps

  8. يغرس الشر ويسقي غرسه

    يظلم الحق ويدني من ظلم

    He sows evil and waters his planting

    He wrongs the right and draws near to injustice

  9. ما الذي يجنيه من بركة دم

    غير بغض الشعب ما دام عزم

    What blessing does he reap from blood

    Other than the people's hatred as long as he's determined

  10. قد بدا من ثغره فيض السنى

    وطغت لجته ثم التطم

    From his lips the goodness flowed

    And his surge then overwhelmed

  11. فمضى ثم مضت آثاره

    وكما ينهزم الليل انهزم

    So he passed, and then his deeds passed

    And as the night retreats, he retreated

  12. ومشى المحكوم نشوان الخطى

    يملأ الأرض حياة بالنغم

    The ruled walked with a joyous gait

    Filling the earth with life and melodies

  13. وتخطت أرضه أفراحه

    لشعوب ظامئات وأمم

    His land was traversed by his joys

    For thirsty peoples and nations

  14. نسمة لو مس بيداً نفحها

    نضر النبت ثراها وابتسم

    A breeze, if its gentle breath touched

    Revived the plants, their freshness smiled

  15. ستظل الأرض ما دامت لها

    جنة الفكر ومرقاة الهمم

    The earth remains as long as for it

    There is the paradise of thought and loftiness of ideals

  16. وإذا عانق روحا عطرها

    عاش للخير وتقديس القيم

    And if its soul's fragrance it embraced

    It lived for goodness and sanctity of values

  17. أنت مني أنت إنسان إذا

    غمرتنا وكلانا محترم

    You are of me, you are human, if

    We immersed each other and respected one another

  18. حسب هذا العصر روح زحمت

    رحبة النفس وآفاق القلم

    According to this age, the spirit of its bustle

    Is breadth of soul and horizons of the pen

  19. كلما امتدت فحيت أمة

    هتف الفتيان لبيك نعم

    Whenever the scope of a nation extended

    The youth cried "Here I am, yes!"

  20. إنها حرية دافقة

    تنشر الأقطار من لحد العدم

    It is flowing freedom

    Spreading from countries to nothingness

  21. صعدت تخشع في الدنيا لها

    نفس حر قدست هذا الحرم

    A free soul ascended, humbly bowing to it in the world

    Sanctifying this sanctuary

  22. طرب الشرق وغنى عرب

    وشدا الجالس في ظل الهرم

    The East exulted, and Arabs sang

    And those sitting in the pyramid's shade clapped

  23. إنه حر وحريته

    نعمة من فيضها كل النعم

    It is free, and its freedom

    Is a blessing, and all blessings flow from it

  24. وتغنى حر أوربا بها

    وشعوب من بعيد وأمم

    And free Europe sang of it

    As well as faraway peoples and nations

  25. ثم دوى الطبل في إفريقيا

    فشجا حرا بأمريكا النغم

    Then the drums roared in Africa

    So America ecstatically sang its tune

  26. نغمات صعدت وامتزجت

    فهى لحن واحد فيه ضرم

    Melodies ascended and blended

    Into one tune, intertwined

  27. عزف السودان لحنا خالدا

    من صدى الفرحة في رفع العلم

    The Sudan played an immortal melody

    From the echo of joy in raising the flag

  28. وأفقنا في سنى الصبح على

    طرب العيد وتجسيد الحلم

    And we awoke at the dawn of an era upon

    The rapture of celebration and realization of the dream

  29. ومشى الشعب طليقا داخلا

    رحبة التاريخ فالقيد انحطم

    And the people walked free, entering

    The expanse of history, for the shackles crumbled

  30. بعثت فيه حياة حرة

    وسمت فيه وقالت لا تنم

    It breathed into it a free life

    And marked it, saying "Do not sleep"

  31. هذه النفحة مهما حبست فهى

    تسري مع أنفاس النسم

    This breeze, no matter how confined, it

    Flows with the breaths of the breeze
