يرى فيك الكريم أتى الكراما

The greeting of a nation, and the peace of a people

Who see in you the generous one has come to the generous

يرى فيك المعين وليس خصما

يريد لنفسه منا انتقاما

Who see in you the supporter, not an opponent

Who wants from us revenge

يراك رسول جمع عالمي

أتى ينشي الحكومة والنظاما

They see you as the messenger who gathered the world

Who came to establish the government and system

فعجل في القلوب الحب تغنم

به الذكرى الحبيبة والمقاما

So hurry love in the hearts you gain

With it the dear memory and the position

وإن قرار هيئتكم نجاح

بروح العدل والقسطاس قاما

And that your committee’s decision is a success

With the spirit of justice and the scale it stood

وما تنفيذه إلا اختبار

لحزمك فلتكن بطلا هماما

And its implementation is but a test

For your determination, so be a noble hero

إلى المندوب وهو أجل قدرا

من التذكير وجهت الكلام

To the delegate, and he is the highest in status

I directed this reminder and speech

مقالة ناصح حر صريح

يقول الحق لو لقى الحماما

The sayings of an honest free adviser

Who speaks the truth even if he meets doves

فهذا الشعب كافح ثلث قرن

إذا تسمح فمطلبنا جدير

بأن يعطي انتباها واهتماما

To be given attention and care

يريد الشعب وحدته ففيها

كرامته ولا يرضى انقساما

The people want their unity, for in it

Is their dignity, and they do not accept division

يريد الشعب دستورا كريما

يصون حقوقه من أن تضاما

The people want a noble constitution

That protects their rights from oppression

يريد مليكه الإدريس رمزا

كريما يحكم القوم الكراما

They want their king Idris as a noble symbol

To rule the generous people

يريد الشعب تمثيلا صحيحا

ليحكم نفسه حكما قواما

The people want true representation

To rule itself a lasting rule

يريد علاقة لا غش فيها

مع الأمم التي ترعى السلاما

They want a relationship without deceit

With nations that promote peace

وبالإيجاز يرغب كل خير

لمن في رقعة الوطن استقاما

And in brief, they desire all goodness

For those in the country who are righteous

فذي بعض الرغائب وهي تعني

بأنا أمة قصدت مراما

So these are some of the desires, and they mean

That we are a nation that sought purpose

فإن نالته بالحسنى فنعمت

وإن منعت ستبعثها ضراما

If obtained nicely then good fortune

And if denied, it will send them insisting

فإما أن يكون حياة عز

وإما الموت نقبله زؤاما

Either there shall be a life of dignity

Or death, which we accept bitterly

ستسمع أننا في الرأي شتى

وفي الغايات نختلف انقساما

You will hear that we differ in opinion

And in goals we differ in division

وأن لكل منطقة كيانا

برغبة أهلها الأحرار قاما

And that each region has an entity

With the free will of its people it stood

وهذه برقة اليوم استقلت

بلا تعب وحققت المناما

And Barqa today has become independent

Without effort, achieving the dream

سيأتي دور طرابلس فورا

فتنتظم الأمور بها انتظاما

Soon Tripoli’s turn will come

And things will organize therein

كذا الفزان يصبح مستقلا

وقدما كان منطقة حراما

And likewise Fezzan will become independent

When it was an unlawful region

فلا تسمع لأهل السين قولا

ولا عن تيمز تروى كلاما

وما منحوه بالدستور شكلا

وكل وزارة بل كل قسم

به منهم مشير قد أقاما

يسوسون الأمور بغير عقل

ألا يأيها المندوب حاذر

من التقسيم إن شئت احتراما

Oh delegate, beware

Of division, if you want respect

فوحدة ليبيا لا بد منها

لتنفيذ القرار بها دواما

For Libya’s unity is necessary

To implement the decision continuously

ووحدة شعبنا بمقومات

أتت كالشمس بددت القتاما

And the unity of our people with qualities

Came like the sun dispelling darkness

فنطق الضاد منطقنا جميعا

ودين الشعب إسلام ترامي

Speaking Dhad is all of our dialect

And the people’s religion is far-reaching Islam

وذا التاريخ والعادات فينا

وذي الأنساب تجمعنا تماما

And history and customs unite us

And genealogy unites us completely

ورقعة أرضنا أبدا جميعا

فلم نعرف لوحدتها انفصاما

And the scope of our land forever entirely

We never knew division in its oneness

وأما اقتضته ظروف حرب

من التقسيم لا يبقى لزاما

And as dictated by war circumstances

Division that does not remain binding

فهذا من حديث الشعب حقا

أقدمه لحضرتكم نظاما

This is from the people’s true speech

I present to your honors organized

وعذرا إن أطلت القول إني

أردت الاختصار فما استقاما

Please excuse if my words were long

I wanted brevity but it lacked propriety

إليك تحيتي ثم احترامي

وتقديري ومعذرتي ختاما
