Your memory remains throughout the days, O Omar
As long as people have hearing or sight
And how can we forget the young man whose determination
Was as sharp as an Indian sword, renowned for mention
He who strove for the noble cause
And for the oppressed to gain glorious victory
He who taught us patience when despair was killing us
So we shall endure and wait for God's grace
He who taught the youth of this land through him
Love of country, so his actions spoke his words
No, neither death makes us forget his virtues
Nor time and what destiny brings
His memory remains vivid in minds
And every soul bears the fruits of his grace
O you who planted in the youth their zeal
Watering your plant, see, the tree has borne fruit
O you who taught us how is jihad when danger looms
You revived in us a feeling that the rule of tyrants had destroyed
You were a healer of souls when inflicted with wounds
Or when sorrow had made them lose their way
You were a journalist for the homeland
Even if its enemies govern and control
We learned most of these lessons from you
And you taught us the vicissitudes of fate and man
Without a free homeland we are like cattle
Waiting to be slaughtered by the butcher
The mail weeps when a portrait moans
And the press has tears full of expression
For El Mokhlisi, whose press
Was the pride of the country when people took pride
Glory to You my Lord, these are presses
That were orphaned when he left without a trace
It knew through its owner's effort
What no jinn or human can undertake
So do not blame it if remembrance excites it
To weep with ink, portraits, or lines
To weep for the literature he used to publish
In every cultural club, keeping it exclusive
Or weep for the poetry he helped with oceans
Of meters unlike those others mentioned
Or weep for writing in eloquent words
Flowing like a stream or scattering pearls
Or weep for a pen whose nature is like a sword
On an awful day, sparing none and maiming all
Or weep for faith and morals mourning him
And every afflicted soul injured by harm
Let anyone who wishes weep, for tears are plenty
For the deceased, so no blame or harm
As for me, my tears I knew of old
Pour in floods when remembering separation
What has happened to them today, no downpour flows
To extinguish a burning anguish in my heart
Then O lion, the cubs stand guard
Over their protector, no heedlessness or boredom
Rest assured near God in serenity
And enjoy God's peace, O Omar
