Under the blaze of the sun in the desolate deserts
The caravan marched hastily on its way across the wasteland

سير يجتاز الفلاة
When the caravan reached a fork with two paths - perdition or salvation
And road signs marked each path's omens
فإذا الركب على مف
رق نهجين هلاك ونجاة
One led straight ahead, beckoning to press on
The caravan followed it without hesitation
وعلى كل علاما
ت حوتها اللافتات
Except a faint voice saying:
"You erred, O guide, you missed the path!"
يمم الأول حادي
ه ونادى بالمسير
Days passed as the caravan wandered lost in the desert
Seeing the path they were on had disappeared
ومضى في إثره الرك
ب ولم يبد نكير
Wandering misled them, leaving the people confused
Roaming blindly right and left
غير صوت خافت كا
ن يقول
The guide led them astray into endless darkness
Spreading terror over those parts
جرت يا حادي وأخطأ
ت السبيل
A voice from the caravan cried:
"You erred, O guide, you missed the path!"
مرت الأيام والرك
ب مجد في الصحارى
Yet the arrogant guide showed stubbornness
Claiming the path he chose was best
ورأى الركب أن الن
نهج عنه قد توارى
Some believed him submissively, yielding
Others resented in silence, though criticizing
لفه التيه فظل ال
قوم في الأمر حيارى
Declaring the caravan's path was surely perilous
And for the traveller, confusing if not wise
خبط عشواء يسيرو
ن يمينا ويسارا
A voice from the caravan called:
"You erred, O guide, you missed the path!"
ذهب الحادي بهم في
مهمه من ظلمات
The guide went on heedless with the crowd
Lost deeper in the wasteland feigning courage
ينشر الذعر جناحي
ه على تلك الجهات
Water grew scarce and specter of famine appeared
Mutiny rose in the caravan, obedience ceased
فعلى صوت من الرك
ب يقول
A spirit of evil in the people grew evident
As their leader hid his vile intentions
جرت يا حادي وأخطأ
ت السبيل
The caravan cried:
"You erred, O guide, you missed the path!"
غير أن الحادي المغ
رور قد أبدى عنادا
The guide resorted to guile with the unruly caravan
Said he was very skilled in reading the sands
وادعى أن طريق ال
خير ما كان أرادا
"I will inform you, do not rush me for fate"
He drew lines and strokes in the sand
صدق البعض بما قا
ل خضوعا وانقيادا
Then showed surprise at what he saw, like one astounded
Told the people "Have faith, relief comes soon"
وطوى بعضهم الغي
ظ وإن أبدى انتقادا
The caravan muttered:
"You erred, O guide, you missed the path!"
معلنا أن طريق الر
ركب حتما مهلكه
Exhausted, starving, with no water left
The caravan lost patience and hope
وهي للسالك لو كا
ن خبيرا مربكه
The false promise of relief would not come true
The caravan was determined to kill the wicked guide
وإذا بعض من الرك
ب يقول
He wept begging like a confused child, humbled
But the caravan's torment quenched their rage
جرت يا حادي وأخطأ
ت السبيل
And after mocking him, said:
"You have erred, O guide, missed the path!"
ومضى الحادي إلى غي
ر تجاه بالجماعة
The guide perished. The caravan rallied its strength
And marched on towards its sought destination
موغلا في التيه اظ
هارا لآثار الشجاعة
Sincerity spread through the people to their core
They were graced with mercy in despair from God
فإذا الماء قليل
وبدا شبح مجاعة
And in the night they saw the pole star, so went north
At dawn they reached settlements, specter of death gone
فبدا العصيان في الرك
ب ولات اليوم طاعه
The caravan praised in voices:
"Thanks to God who guided us to the path!"
أخذت في القوم روح الش
شر تبدو ظاهره
ومضى قائدهم يخ
في النوايا الغادره
فإذا الركب ينادي
ويقول
جرت يا حادي وأخطأ
ت السبيل
لجأ الحادي إلى الحي
لة في الركب العرير
قال إني عالم بالرم
ل جدا وخبير
سأنبئكم فلا تستع
جلوني بالمصير
ومضي يرسم في الرم
ل خطوطا وسطورا
ثم أبدى دهشة مم
ما رأى كالمستريب
قال للقوم ثقوا في
فرج يأتي قريب
تمتم الركب بأصوا
ت تقول
جرت يا حادي وأخطأ
ت السبيل
وقف الركب من الاع
ياء والجوع الشديد
وانعدام الماء لا يت
رك للصبر وجود
وخيال الفرج المز
عوم حتما لا يعود
صمم الركب على أن
يقتل الحادي الجحود
فبكى مستعطفا كالط
طفل حيران ذليل
غير أن الركب من تع
ذيبه أشفى الغليل
ومضى بعد تسفيه يقول
مت لقد أخطأت يا حا
دي السبيل
هلك الحادي وإذ بالر
ركب قد شد قواه
ومضى للهدف المن
شود لا يبغي سواه
وسرى الإخلاص في ال
قوم على أقوى عراه
شملتهم رحمة في ال
يأس من عند الإله
فرأوا في الليل نجم ال
قطب فانصاعوا شمالا
وأتوا العمران في الصب
ح وشبح الموت زالا
هلل الركب بأصوا
ت تقول
نحمد الله هدانا للسبيل
