O axe of glories
I am the unarmed, rebellious man
They accused me of a crime that rends the heart
And does to the chest what it does
My only crime was that
I forbid with words what they permitted
And that if they altered a verse
I complained to God about what they altered
And that if they ignited strife
I drew from it and extinguished what they ignited
And that if they donned a cloak
On injustice, I burned what they donned
Shall I be silenced like embers on righteousness
While others are asked about disbelief?
I was but a tender heart
That melts when the bulbul sings
And I was too rational that I became
Beyond patience and tolerance, no longer rational
So oh my friend, how can men be wronged
And made to drink hot drinks when they straightened things?
