كَابْن نصرٍ تراه في الحرب ليثاً
وهو بدر الندى وغيث السماح
Like Ibn Nasr, you see him in war—a lion;
yet he is generosity’s full moon, liberality’s rain.
ذكره قد ثنى قدود الندامى
وأعاد الحياةَ في الأقداحِ
The mention of him has bent the drinking companions’ figures
and restored life within the goblets.
