1. زارَ الخيالُ بِأَيْمَنِ الزَّوْرَاءِ

    فَجَلاَ سَناهُ غَياهبَ الظلماءِ

    The imagination visited the right side of Zawra

    Its brilliance illuminated the darkness of gloom

  2. وسَرى مع النَسَماتِ يَسحبُ ذيلَهُ

    فأَتَتُ تَنمُّ بعنبر وكباءِ

    And it flowed with the breeze, dragging its tail

    So dew came dripping with ambergris and musk

  3. هذا وما شَيءٌ أَلَذُ من المنَى

    إِلاَّ زيارتُهُ مَعَ الإِغفاءِ

    Nothing is sweeter than wishes

    Except its visitation accompanied by drowsiness

  4. بتْنَا خَيالَيْنِ الْتَحَفْنا بالضنى

    والسقم ما نخشى من الرقباءِ

    We spent the night with two imaginations, gratified with affection

    And we do not fear sickness from the watchmen

  5. حتى أفاقَ الصبحُ من غمراتِهِ

    وتجاذبَتُ أَيْدي النسيم ردائي

    Until the dawn awoke from its deep slumber

    And the hands of the breeze pulled my cloak

  6. يا سائلي عن سرِّ من أَحْبَبْتُهُ

    السرُّ عندي مَيِّتُ الإِحياءِ

    O you who ask about the secret of the one I love

    The secret is dead to revival with me

  7. تاللهِ لا أشكُو الصبابة والهوى

    لسوى الأَحِبَّةِ إِذْ أموتُ بدائي

    By God, I do not complain of youth and passion

    Except to fellow lovers when I die of my chronic disease

  8. يا زَيْنَ قلبي لست أبرح عانياً

    أرضى بسقمي في الهوى وعناني

    O light of my heart, I do not cease to be a lover

    I am content with my sickness of love and my obstinacy

  9. أبكي وما غيرُ النجيعِ مدامعٌ

    أُذكي ولا ضرمٌ سوى أحشائي

    I cry but not out of anguish are my tears

    I ignite but no coal except my entrails

  10. أَهفُو إِذَا تهفُوا البروقُ وأَنثني

    لِسُرى النواسمِ من رُبى تيماءِ

    I sigh when lightning sighs and I bend

    To the path of the soft blowing breeze from Teyma

  11. باللهِ يا نفسَ الحمى رفقاً بِمَنْ

    أَغْرَيْتِهِ بتنفسِ الصعداءِ

    For God's sake, O soul, be gentle with the one

    Whose breathing of the elevated places enticed him

  12. عجباً لهُ يندَى على كبدي وقَدْ

    أَذْكى بقلبي جمرةَ البُرَحَاءِ

    Strange is he who sympathizes because of my liver while he

    Has ignited in my heart the embers of separation

  13. يا ساكني البطحاءِ أيُّ إِبانةٍ

    لي عندكمْ يا ساكني البطحاءِ

    O dwellers of the plain, what news

    Do you have for me, O dwellers of the plain?

  14. أَتُرى النوى يوماً تخيبُ قِداحُها

    ويفوزُ قِدحي منكمُ بلقاءِ

    Will the wish one day disappoint its arousal

    And my arousal gain a meeting with you?

  15. في حَيكُمُ قمرٌ فؤادي أُفْقُهُ

    تفديهِ نفسي من قريبٍ نائي

    Among you is a moon, my heart its horizon

    My soul ransoms it from a near or distant companion

  16. لم تُنْسِني الأَيامُ يومَ وداعِهِ

    والركبُ قد أوفَى على الزوراءِ

    The days have not made me forget the day of his farewell

    When the caravan had already departed from Zawra

  17. أَبكي وَبْسِمُ والمحاسنُ تُجْتَلَى

    فَعَلِقْتُ بينَ تَبَسُّمِ وبُكاءِ

    I cry but smiles adorn my face

    So I was suspended between smiling and crying

  18. يا نظرةً جاذبتها أيدي النوى

    حتى استهلَّتْ أدمعي بدماءِ

    O a glance pulled by the hands of wishes

    Until my tears were shed in blood

  19. من لي بثانيةٍ تنادي بالأسى

    قَدْكَ اتئدْ أسرفت في الغلواء

    Who can I call out longingly to again

    You have had your fill, exceedingly passionate

  20. ولرُبَّ ليلٍ بالوصالِ قطعْتُهُ

    أجلو دجاهُ بأوجهِ الندمَاءِ

    And for many a night of union I spent

    Lighting its darkness with remorseful faces

  21. أَنُسَيْتُ فيه القلبَ عادةَ حِلمهِ

    وحَثَثْتُ فيهِ أكؤسَ السرَّاءِ

    I forgot in it the heart's habit of dreaming

    And in it I stirred the cups of joy

  22. وجَرَيْتُ في طَلَقِ التصابي جامحاً

    لا أنثني لمقادة النصحاءِ

    And I flowed in the openness of abandon, galloping

    Not pausing to heed the advice of advisors

  23. أَطوي شبابي للمشيب مراحلاً

    برواحلِ الإصباح والإِمساءِ

    I shorten the distances of my youth to old age

  24. يا ليت شعري هَلْ أُرَى أطوي إلى

    قبر الرسولِ صحائفَ البيداءِ

    With the steeds of dawn and dusk

    I wish I knew, will I reach

  25. فتطيبَ في تلك الربوعِ مدائحي

    ويطولَ في ذاك المَقَام ثوائي

    The Prophet's tomb, the pages of the wilderness?

    So my praises will be pleasant in those meadows

  26. حيثُ النبوةُ نورها متألقٌ

    كالشمس تُزْهَى في سَناً وسَناءِ

    And my stance prolonged in that abode

    Where prophethood, its light radiant

  27. حيثُ الرسالةُ في ثنية قدسها

    رَفَعَتْ لهدي الخَلْقِ خيرَ لواءِ

    Like the sun adorned with brilliance and splendor

    Where the message in the sanctuary of its holiness

  28. حيثُ الضريحُ ضريحُ أكرمِ مرسلٍ

    فخر الوجودِ وشافعِ الشفعاءِ

    Raised the best banner for the guidance of creation

    Where the tomb, the tomb of the noblest messenger

  29. المصطفى والمرتضى والمجتبى

    والمنتقى من عنصرِ العلياءِ

    Pride of existence and intercessor of intercessors

    Al-Mustafa, Al-Murtada, Al-Mujtaba

  30. خيرِ البريَّةِ مجتباها ذخرها

    ظلَّ الإِلهِ الوارف الأفياء

    And Al-Muntaqá from the elite of the lofty

    The best of creation, its essence purified

  31. تاج الرسالة خَتمِها وقِوامِها

    وعِمادِها السامي على النظراءِ

    The shade of God, encompassing and bountiful

    Crown of the message, its seal and pillar

  32. لواهُ للأفلاكِ ما لاحت بها

    شهبٌ تنيرُ دياجيَ الظلماءِ

    And its towering column over all peers

    The horizon took its light that appeared in it

  33. ذو المعجزاتِ الغُرِّ والآي الألى

    أُكْبِرْنَ عن عَدٌ وعن إحصاءِ

    Meteors giving light to the darkness of gloom

    Possessor of tangible miracles and signs

  34. وكفاكَ ردُّ الشمسِ بعد مغيبها

    وكفاكَ ما قدْ جاءَ في الإِسراءِ

    Glorious beyond counting or enumeration

    And suffice you the return of the sun after its setting

  35. والبدرُ شُقَّ لَهُ وكم من آيةٍ

    كأَناملِ جاءتْ بنبع الماءِ

    And suffice you what occurred in Al-Isra during the night journey

    And for him the moon split, and how many a sign

  36. وبليلةِ الميلاد كم من رحمةٍ

    نشرَ الإِلَهُ بها ومن نعماءِ

    As if fingers streaming water

    And on the night of his birth, how much mercy

  37. قد بشَّرَ الرسُلُ الكرامُ ببعثِهِ

    وتقدَّمَ الكُهَّانُ بالأَنباءِ

    Did God disseminate, and what blessings!

    The noble messengers heralded his advent

  38. أَكرمْ بها بشرى على قدم سَرَتْ

    في الكون كالأَرْواحِ في الأَعضاءِ

    And the soothsayers preceded with the news

    He brought the best tidings to mankind which traveled

  39. أمسى بها الإِسلامُ يشرقُ نورُهُ

    والكفرُ أصبحَ فاحمَ الأرجاءِ

    Through the universe like spirits in bodies

    Through him Islam's light shines

  40. هو آيةُ اللهِ التي أنوارُها

    تجلو ظلامَ الشكِّ أيَّ جلاءِ

    And disbelief became gloomy horizons

    It is the sign of God whose lights

  41. والشمسُ لا تخفى مَزِيَّةُ فضلِها

    إلاَّ على ذي المقلةِ العمياءِ

    Clarify the darkness of doubt, however intense

    And the sun, the merit of its superiority is not hidden

  42. يا مُصطفى والكونُ لم تعلَقُ بِهِ

    من بعدُ أيدي الخَلْقِ والإنشاءِ

    Except from the blind of perception

    O Mustafa, and the universe after

  43. يا مُظْهِر الحقِّ الجليِّ ومُطْلِعَ ال

    نّورِ السَّنِيِّ الساطعِ الأَضواءِ

    The creation of mankind did not hang upon it

    O manifestation of the evident Truth, and discloser of the

  44. يا ملجأَ الخلق المشفَّعِ فيهمُ

    يا رحمةَ الأمواتِ والأحياءِ

    Radiant light of the resplendent lights

    O refuge of creation, their intercessor

  45. يا آسيَ المرضى ومنتجَعَ الرضى

    ومُاسيَ الأيتامِ والضُعَفاءِ

    O mercy to the dead and the living

    O consoler of the sick and sanctuary of the content

  46. أشكو إليكَ وأنت خيرُ مُؤمَّلِ

    داءَ الذنوبِ وفي يديكَ دوائي

    O comforter of orphans and the weak

    I complain to you, for you are the best hoped

  47. إني مددتُ يَدِي إليكَ تَضَرُّعاً

    حاشا وكلاَّ أن يخيبَ رجائي

    For the disease of sins, and in your hand is my cure

    I extended my hand to you beseeching

  48. إن كنت لم أخلص إليك فإِنَّما

    خلصت إليك محبتي وندائي

    Far be it! Far be it! That my hopes are dashed

    If I have not been sincere to you, then only

  49. وبسعدِ مولايَ الإمام محمدٍ

    تَعِدُ الأماني أَنْ يتاحَ لقائي

    My love and my calling have been sincere to you

    And by the felicity of my master Imam Muḥammad

  50. ظلُّ الإِلهِ على البلادَ وأهلِها

    فخرُ الملوكِ السادة الخلفاء

    Hopes promise that I will be allowed to meet you

    The shadow of God over the country and its people

  51. غوثُ العبادِ ولَيْثُ مشتجرِ القَنَا

    يومَ الطعانِ وفارجُ الغماءِ

    Pride of kings, the noble caliphs

    Succor of servants, and fierce lion of the battlefield

  52. كالدهر في سطواته وسماحه

    تجري صَباه بزَعزعِ وَرُخاءِ

    On the day of calamity, and remover of sorrows

    Like fate in its sway and its leniency

  53. رقت سجاياه وراقت مجتلى

    كالنهر وسط الروضةَ الغنّاءِ

    Its youth flows with shakeup and prosperity

    His nature softened and his beauty shone

  54. كالزَّهر في إيراقهِ والبدر في

    إشراقه والزُّهر في لألاءِ

    Like a river amidst the singing meadow

    Like a flower in its blossoming, the full moon in

  55. يا ابن الألى إجمالهم وجمالهم

    فَلَقُ الصباح وواكف الأنواءِ

    Its rising, and flowers in their violet buds

    O son of the exalted, their perfection and their beauty

  56. أنصارُ دين الله حزبُ رسوله

    والسابقون بحلبة العلياءِ

    Dawn’s rending, stopper of gusts

    The supporters of God’s religion, the party of His Messenger

  57. يا ابن الخلائف من بني نصر ومَنْ

    حاطوا ذمَار الملة السمحاءِ

    And the foremost in the arena of the sublime

    O son of the caliphs from the clan of Nasr and those

  58. من كل من تقف الملوك ببابه

    يستمطرون سحائب النعماءِ

    Who grasped the reins of the tolerant faith

    A people, when they led armies into the fray

  59. قومٌ إذا قادوا الجيوش إلى الوغى

    فالرعب رائدهم إلى الأعداءِ

    Terror was their vanguard to the enemies

    And honor brought with each battalion

  60. والعز مجلوب بكلِّ كتيبةٍ

    والنصر معقود بكلِّ لواءِ

    And victory tied to every banner

    O heir to their merits which

  61. يا وارثاً عنها مناقبها التي

    تسمو مراقيها على الجوزاءِ

    Tower above the high stars

    O pride of al-Andalus and protector of its people

  62. يا فخر أندلسٍ وعصمةَ أهلها

    يجزيك عنها اللهُ خيرَ جزاءِ

    May God reward you best for it

    How many tasks for its reform you undertook

  63. كم خضت طوع صلاحها من مهمةٍ

    لا تهتدي فيه القطا للماءِ

    In which even the guide gets lost on the way to water

    With resolves you guide the confused travelers

  64. تهدي بها حادي السُّري بعزائم

    تهدي نجومَ الأفق فضلَ ضياءِ

    And guide the stars in the sky in precedence of light

    So raise the banner of pride without defense

  65. فارفع لواء الفخْر غير مُدافع

    واسحَبْ ذيولَ العّزةِ القعساءِ

    And drag the train of noble glory

    And congratulate yourself on your blessed building, for it is

  66. واهْنَأ بمبناك السعيد فإنه

    كهفٌ ليوم مشورةِ وعَطاءِ

    A cave for the day of consultation and bestowal

    From it is a halo for God that has become

  67. للهِ منه هالةٌ قد أصبحت

    حَرَمَ العفاةِ ومصرع الأعداءِ

    Sanctuary of the destitute and death place of enemies

    Which birds of hope frequent, harvesting

  68. تنتابُها طيرُ الرجاء فتجتني

    ثمرَ المنى من دوحة الآلاءِ

    The fruit of wishes from the date palm of favors

    From it is a dome raised

  69. للهِ منه قبةٌ مرفوعة

    دون السماء تفوت لحظ الرائي

    Below the sky, escaping the glance of onlookers

    The wonders of its decoration have delighted, as if it were

  70. راقت بدائعُ وشيها فكأنها

    وشيُ الربيع بمسقط الأنداءِ

    The decoration of spring at the place of dew

    You magnified the birth of the Prophet Muhammad

  71. عظّمتَ ميلادَ النبيِّ محمدٍ

    وشَفعتَهُ بالليلةِ الغرَّاءِ

    And coupled it with the blessed night

    You spent your night awake, benefiting us

  72. أحييتَ ليلك ساهراً فأفدتنا

    قوتَ القلوب بذلك الإِحيَاءِ

    Strengthening hearts with that revival

    O noble imam, transcending the perceptions of intellectuals

  73. يا أَيُّها الملكُ الهُمام المجتبى

    فاتت علاك مداركَ العُقَلاءِ

    Who can enumerate your merits that

    Even the horizons of the eloquent fell short?

  74. من لي بأن أُحصي مناقبك التي

    ضاقت بهنْ مذاهبُ الفصحاءِ

    And to you from me is an outspread garden

    Whose flowers reddened with the scent of eulogy

  75. وإليك مني روضةٌ مطلولةٌ

    أَرِجَتْ أزاهرها بطيب ثَناءِ

    So make room for it in the bosom of your forgiveness, it is

    An innocent that came walking with shyness

  76. فافْسَحْ لها أكْنافَ صفحك إنها

    بكرٌ أتت تمشي على استحياءِ
