I walk, for the fates move on

So how many nights do I spend seeking glory

As if I were an ambassador to the stars

With resolve, when night extends its corridors

It turns dark, so I shine a light

A brother charged with glory, not easily provoked

A bed, when darkness settles and stirs

He has no awakening, not even in death

    Until I see it weaken

It forbids straightforward words, brother of guidance

And is stingy even with imaginary visits

You who reside in Nejd, be kind

Your love stirs and changes my heart

And you who live alone in rugged Miná

Is your pleasure with me too small?

I remembered you across the sea though we are far

So its expanse filled with overflowing tears

Flying through my heart with sighs

Is there no ally for my heart in its love?

By God, I know not if remembering you makes me grieve

Or if the cup passed between tents revolves

So who can convey my intentions if they displease her?

Reason has a rule, but tyranny and injustice prevail

And spend time, with each of us visiting the other
