1. سلام على الدنيا جميعاً وما فيها

    غداة نَعَتْ شمسُ الخلافة من فيها

    Peace be upon the world and all that is in it

    When the sun of the caliphate lamented those in it

  2. نَعَتْ مَلِكَ الأملاك والكاملَ الذي

    يكفّ عوادي الحادثات ويكفيها

    It lamented the king of kings and the perfect one

    Who averts the calamities of fate and suffices them

  3. عميدَ بني الأنصار غير مدافع

    ومحيي معاليها ومولى مواليها

    The pillar of the Ansar, not defending

    And the reviver of its glories and master of its masters

  4. وبدر دياجيها وشمس نهارها

    وبشرَ مُحيّاها ونورَ مجاليها

    The full moon of its nights and the sun of its days

    And good news of its life and the light of its sights

  5. خفا الكوكب الوقاد قد كان نورُهُ

    يُجلِّي من الدُّهمْ الخطوب دياجيها

    The shining planet whose light

    Used to illuminate the darkness of its nights

  6. هوى القمر الوضاح من أفق العلا

    فأظلم جوُّ النّيِّرات بساريها

    The brilliant moon has fallen from the horizon of glory

    So the atmosphere of the stars darkened with its disappearance

  7. وقد كُسفت شمسُ الهداية بعدما

    أبانَ سبيلَ الحق للخَلْق هاديها

    The sun of guidance was eclipsed after

    It showed the path of truth to the creation as its guide

  8. هو الجبل الراسي تصدّع بعدما

    أقرت به شُمُّ الجبال رَوَاسيها

    He is the firm mountain that cracked after

    The mountains acknowledged its firmness with their bases

  9. يعز على دين الهدى أن شمسه

    يطول بأطباق التراب تواريها

    It is hard on the religion of guidance that its sun

    Is long obscured by the spheres of dust hiding it

  10. يعز على زُهر النجوم متى سَرَتْ

    ولا تلمحُ الهديَ الذي كان يَهديها

    It is hard on the flowers of stars when they crept

    And the guidance that used to guide them is not glimpsed

  11. لأندلسٍ ثكلٌ عليه مُرَدَّدٌ

    له لبست سودَ المسوح نواحيها

    Andalusia has agonizing sorrow repeating over it

    As the clothes of mourning covered its environs

  12. ثلاثين حولاً بعد خمس تعوّدت

    يدافع عنها كلَّ خطب ويحميها

    Thirty years after five it grew accustomed

    To his defense of it from every peril and protecting it

  13. أُبكِّيه للرايات يخفُقُ بَنْدها

    وفي مرقب النصر المؤزر يُعليها

    I lament to the flags as their poles flutter

    And rise to the arena of triumphant victory

  14. أُبكِّيه للخيل المغيرة بالضّحى

    وقد أبعد الفتح المبين مراميها

    I lament to the horses stirred at dawn

    After the evident conquest has removed its aims

  15. ويبكيه معمورُ البسيطة كلَّها

    وما ضم من داني البلاد وقاصيها

    And the whole of civilized land laments it

    And what it contained of the near and far lands

  16. وتبكيه سحب أخجلتها بنانُهُ

    وترسل دمع الغيث حزناً مآقيها

    And the clouds whose glory shamed them lament it

    Sending down the tears of rain sorrowfully crying

  17. وتبكيه حتى الشهب في أفق العلا

    وتلبَسُ جلباب الظلام جواريها

    And the meteors in the horizon of exaltation lament it

    Dressing in the gowns of darkness, their maidens

  18. عزاءً أمين المسلمين فإنها

    مقادير رب الخلق في الخلق يُجريها

    Condoling the trusted one of the Muslims, for these are

    The measures of the Lord of creation running among the creation

  19. هو الموت وِدٌ للخليقة كلِّها

    أواخرها تقفُو سبيل أواليها

    It is death, beloved to all creation

    Its endings follow the path of its beginnings

  20. وما بيننا حيٌّ وما بين آدم

    ألا هكذا سوِّى البريَّة باريها

    Is there anyone alive between us and Adam

    Except that the Maker leveled the creation thusly?

  21. وفي موت خير الخلق أكبرُ أسوة

    تُصبِّر أحرار النفوس وتُسْليها

    And in the death of the best of creation is the greatest example

    That consoles the free spirits and solaces them

  22. أمولايَ لو كان الفداء مسوّغاً

    فديناك بالدنيا جميعاً وما فيها

    My Master - if ransom were allowed

    We would ransom you with the whole world and what is in it

  23. أمولايَ كم من نعمة لك عندنا

    إذا نحن رُمنا حصرها ليس نُحصيها

    My Master - how many blessings you have over us

    If we try to count them we cannot enumerate them

  24. أمولايَ خلّفت العبيد إلى الأسى

    يناجيك من فرط الشجون مُناجيها

    My Master - you left the slaves to sorrow

    Complaining to you from the excess of their lamentations

  25. تحَفَّيت بي حتى نضوتُ شبيبتي

    عزيزاً وجيهاً حيثما رمتُ تَوْجيها

    You singled me out until I came of age

    Precious and eminent wherever I aimed my direction

  26. وقد كان ظني أن تكون جنازتي

    يُشيِّعها منك الرضا ويُواريها

    And my assumption was that my funeral

    Would have your pleasure and blessings to cover it

  27. وقد عشتُ حتى ذقتُ فقدك قَلَّما

    تُبلَّغ نفس ما تريد أمانيها

    And I have lived until I tasted your loss, rarely

    Is a soul given what it desires of its wishes

  28. ولولا أبو الحجاج نَجْلُك لم يكن

    لدين الهدى كرّاتُ بحر يُزّجّيها

    And were it not for Abu Al Hajjaj your son the religion

    Of guidance would not have seas of abundant knowledge

  29. ولكنه واللهُ يُجمل صبره

    مناقبَك الغُرَّ الكرامَ سيُحييها

    But by God he consoles his patience

    With your magnificent, honorable traits that will revive it

  30. فخلفتنا منه لأكرم كافل

    يُحَمِّلُ أعباء الخلافة كافيها

    So you left us from him the best successor

    Bearing the burdens of the caliphate, sufficient for it

  31. سريرتُه الرُّحمى وسيرتُه الرضا

    وأخلاقه الغرُّ الكريمة تَدريها

    His nature is compassion and his conduct is pleasure

    And his noble, generous morals make them know it

  32. وسيلتك العظمى وظلّك فوقنا

    وعُمدتنا والله في العز يُبقيها

    Your greatest means and your shade above us

    And our pillar, by God, making its glory endure

  33. فما كنت غلاّ الشمسَ قد غَرَبَتْ لنا

    وأنوارها بدرُ التمام يُجلّيها

    For the sun had not set from us when it disappeared

    Its lights the full moon clarifies and reveals

  34. وما أنت إلاّ المسك إن تخْفَ ذاتُه

    ينمَّ بها العَرف الذكي فيُفْشيها

    You are only musk, if its essence vanishes

    Its aroma makes the fragrant breeze spread it

  35. ألا قدّس الرحمن نفساً كريمة

    بكلِّ عزيز في الوجود نُفدّيها

    Exalted is the Most Merciful soul

    That we would ransom with every dear thing in existence

  36. وبُشْرى لنا أن السعادة نُزْلُها

    وأنّ رضا الله الكريم يُرضّيها

    And good tidings to us that happiness is its abode

    And that the good pleasure of the Generous One satisfies it

  37. وحاشا وكلاّ أن تضيع وسائل

    سيذخرها الربُّ الكريم ويُنْشيها

    Far removed that the means will be lost, no

    The Bountiful Lord will treasure and multiply them

  38. فكم من جهاد قد رفعت بنوده

    وقد أثمرت فيها المعالي عواليها

    For how many struggles you have raised the banners

    And the heights of glories have borne fruit in them

  39. كسرتَ تماثيل الصّليب وأُخرسَتْ

    نواقيسُ كانت بالضلال تناغيها

    You broke the statues of the cross, and muted

    Were the bells that were clamoring misguidance with it

  40. وكم من منار قد أعدتَ أذانَه

    وأعلن فيه دعوة الحق داعيها

    And how many minarets you restored the call to prayer

    Proclaiming through it the invocation to truth, its caller

  41. وكم من رياض للكتائب قد غدت

    تضيق بمستَنْ الجياد نواحيها

    And how many gardens for the brave troops have become

    Too narrow for the roaming of the steeds in their environs

  42. وملتف زرع بالأسنة مزهرٍ

    ولكن به المرّان تحلو مجانيها

    And a planted crop flowering

    But with it bitter herbs are sweetened in their substance

  43. إذا ظمئت منها الذوابل في الوغى

    جداولُ أنهارِ السيوف تُروّيها

    When the warriors are thirsty amidst the fray

    The streams of the swords' hilts saturate them

  44. غِراسٌ زكيٌّ للجهاد غرستَهُ

    فصرت إلى دار السعادة تجنيها

    A blessed planting for jihad you have planted

    And so you came to reap it in the abode of bliss

  45. ولم لم يكن إلا سنينَ قطعتها

    رهينَ شكاة لا تزال تعانيها

    Why should it not when the years you severed them

    Were with a sword blade that ceaselessly defends it

  46. صبرتَ لها صبر الكرام وإنما

    ذخرتَ أجوراً فضلُ ربِّك جاريها

    You were patient with the patience of the honorable, indeed

    You stored rewards, your Lord's grace flowing to you

  47. أمالك في الأنصار خير وسيلة

    وقد كنت بالنصر العزيز تُحيِّيها

    Your taking refuge in the Ansar is the best means

    For you were reviving glorious victory through them

  48. وحسبُك بالمختار أكرم شافع

    وسنته والله لا زلت تُحييها

    And suffice you the Chosen One as the most honorable intercessor

    His way, by God, you continue to revive

  49. على علم الدنيا وفخر ملوكها

    تحيّة ربٍّ لا يزال يُواريها

    Above the knowledge of the world and pride of its kings is

    The greeting of a Lord who never ceases to cloak him

  50. سأبكيه ما دام الحمام مطوّقاً

    وما سجعت تبكي الهديلَ قماريها

    I will lament him as long as the neck-ringed doves moan

    And the thrushes weep sorrowfully their companion doves

  51. وأهديه من طيب السلام معطّراً

    كما فتقت أيدي التِّجار غواليها

    And I send to him the sweetest greetings, fragrant

    As the hands of merchants have opened their bags

  52. وأسبلَ ربّ العرش سُحبَ كرامةٍ

    تَسُحُّ على ذاكَ الضريح غواديها

    And the Lord of the Throne pours down clouds of honor

    That float over that tomb in waves

  53. ونسألُ فتحاً للخليفةِ يوسفٍ

    يُملّكُه أقصى البلاد ومن فيها

    And we ask for a conquest for the Caliph Yusuf

    To empower him over the most distant lands and those within them
