1. لك الله من فذ الجلالة أوحد

    تطاوعه الآمال في النهي والأمر

    You alone, Allah granted the glory of supremacy unmatched

    Hopes obey your prohibition and command

  2. لك القلم الأعلى الذي طال فخره

    على المرهفات البيض والأسَل السُّمُرِ

    Yours is the supreme pen whose pride spread

    Across the white parchment and the dark ink

  3. تُقلِّد أجياد الطروس تمائماً

    بصنفَيْ لآلٍ من نظام ومن نثر

    You adorn the necks of steeds with talismans

    Made of two kinds of composition, prose and verse

  4. تهيَّبَكَ القرطاس فاحْمَرَّ إذ غدا

    يُقِلُّ بحوراً من أناملِكَ العَشْرِ

    The parchment trembles in awe of you and turns red

    When it transmits seas from your ten fingers

  5. كأنّ رياض الطَرس خدُّ مورّدٌ

    يُطَرْزه وشيُ العذار من الحِبْرِ

    As if the garden of poetry is an aroused lover

    Embroidered by the wristbands of ink

  6. فشارة هذا الملك رائقة الحُلى

    بألوية حمر وبالصُّحف الحمرِ

    The essence of this king is refined sweetness

    With red flags and red parchment

  7. فما روضة غناء عاهدها الحيا

    تحوك بها وشيَ الربيع يدُ القطرِ

    No garden of song visited by life

    Where spring braids its foliage with drops of rain

  8. تُغني قيانُ الطيَر في جنباتها

    فيرقص غصن البان في حُلَلٍ خضرِ

    The nests of birds sing in its branches

    And boughs of acacia dance in green gowns

  9. تمد لأَكواس العَرار أناملاً

    من السَّوسن الغضِّ المختَّم بالتَّبرِ

    It extends hands of narcissi

    Sealed by ambergris to cups of wine

  10. ويحرس خدَّ الورد صارمُ نهرها

    ويُمنع ثغر النّوْر بالذابل النضرِ

    The cheek of roses guarded by the sword of its stream

    And the smile of light prohibited by the tender blossoms

  11. يفاخر مرآها السماء محاسِناً

    وتُزري نجوم الزَهر منها على الزُّهر

    Its mirrors compete in beauty with the sky

    And the stars of flowers sparkle over the flowers

  12. إذا مسحت كفُّ الصِّبا جفن نَوْرها

    تنفّس ثغر الزهر عن عنبر الشَّحْرِ

    When the palm of the morning breeze strokes its light

    The smile of the blossom exhales the scent of musk

  13. بأعطرَ من رَيَّا ثنائكَ في السُّرى

    وأبهرَ حُسناً من شمائلك الغُرِّ

    More fragrant than your praise in intimacy

    And more beautiful than your image, my fawn

  14. عجبتُ له يحكي خلال خميلةٍ

    وتَفْرَقُ منه الأسد في موقف الذعرِ

    I'm amazed that he describes an imaginary beauty

    While lions scatter in fear at the sight of him

  15. إذا أضمرت من بأسها الحرب جاحماً

    تأجَّجَ منه العَضْبُ في لجة البحرِ

    When it harbors the ferocity of war

    Fury blazes within the depths of the sea

  16. وإن كَلَح الأبطال في حومة الوغى

    ترقرق ماء البشر في صفحة البدرِ

    And if warriors clash in the chaos of battle

    Human blood ripples in the surface of the moon

  17. لك الحسب الوضاح والسؤدد الذي

    يضيق نطاق الوصف فيه عن الحصرِ

    Yours is the manifest virtue and felicity that

    Descriptions fall short and inadequate

  18. تشرَّف أفقٌ أنت بدرُ كماله

    فغرناطةٌ تختال تيهاً على مصرِ

    A horizon you adorned became full moon

    And Granada struts vainly over Egypt

  19. تَكلَّلَ تاجُ الملك منك محاسناً

    وفاخرت الأملاكَ منك بنو نصرِ

    The crown of kingship adorned by your beauty

    And kingdoms prided by you, O son of Nasr

  20. بعزمة مضمون السعادة أوحد

    وغرّة وضّاح المكارم والنّجرِ

    With your resolute good fortune unmatched

    And radiant magnanimity and glory

  21. طوى الحيفُ منشورَ اللواء مؤيداً

    فعزّ حمى الإسلامِ بالطّيِّ والنَشرِ

    Fate rolled down the flag of victory

    Bringing pride to the lands of Islam with spreading and victory

  22. ومدَّ ظلالَ الأمن إذ قصر العدا

    فيُتُلى سناءُ الملك بالمدّ والقصرِ

    And extended the shade of security when you frustrated the enemy

    Thus the sublimity of the kingdom is recited with extension and shortening

  23. إذا احتفل الإيوان يوم مشورة

    ومضطرب الآراء من كل ذي حجرِ

    When the hall convenes for consultation

    And opinions are disturbed by every man of prestige

  24. صدعتَ بفضل القول غَيْرَ منازَع

    وأطلعتَ آراءً قُبِسْنَ من الفجر

    You opine without contention an excellent perspective

    And propose enlightened views gleaned from the dawn

  25. فإِنْ تظفرِ الخَيْلُ المغيرة بالضحى

    فعن رأيك الميمون تظفر بالنَّضْرِ

    When the looting steeds are victorious at daybreak

    They gain triumph through your auspicious view

  26. فلا زلتَ للعلياء تحمي ذمارها

    وتسحب أذيال الفخار على النَّسرِ

    You continue to protect the glory of the noble

    And drag the train of pride over the eagle

  27. وللعلم فخر الدين والفتك بالعدا

    بأوْتَ به يا ابن الخطيب على الفخرِ

    To you goes the pride of the faith and heroism over the enemy

    That you have attained, O son of the writer, the pride

  28. فيهنيك عيدُ الفطر من أنت عيده

    ويُثني بما أوليتَ من نِعَمِ غُرِّ

    So Eid al-Fitr congratulates you, for you are its celebration

    And praises what you are blessed with of precious gifts

  29. جبرت مهيضاً من جناحي ورشتَهُ

    وَسَهَّلْت لي من جانب الزمن الوعرِ

    You mended my broken wing and furnished it

    And facilitated the difficult side of time for me

  30. وبوأتني من ذروة العز معتلّى

    وشرفتني من حيث أدري ولا أدري

    You established me atop the summit of honor

    And granted me nobility unbeknownst to me

  31. وسَوَّغتني الآمال عذباً مسلسلاً

    وأسميت من ذكري ورفَّعت من قدري

    You made my hopes flow sweet and continuous

    And eternalized my remembrance and raised my worth

  32. فدهريّ عيد بالسرور وبالمنى

    وكلّ ليالي العمر لي ليلةُ القدرِ

    So my days are a celebration of joy and wishes

    And all nights of life are for me as the Night of Power

  33. فأصبحت مغبوطاً على خير نعمة

    يقلّ لأدناها الكثير من الشكرِ

    I became fortunate in the best blessing

    That even abundant gratitude falls short
