1. يا مَن به أنا مُغرَمُ

    ارحم فمثلِيَ يُرحَمُ

    O you whom I adore

    Have mercy, for one like me deserves mercy

  2. لم يَبقَ فيّ بقيَّةٌ

    أُجفى بها أو أُظلم

    Nothing remains in me

    With which I can be consoled or wronged

  3. هذا زَمانُك لو قَبلـ

    ـتَ وكُنت ممن يُنعِم

    This is your time, if only

    You would accept and be one who favors

  4. ما الحُسن إِلّا دولةٌ

    محبوبةٌ تُستَغنَم

    Beauty is nothing but a state

    Beloved, to be seized

  5. فإذا انقَضت وأضَعتَها

    جهلاً بها فستَندم

    And when it passes and you miss it

    Ignorantly, you will regret

  6. أنا قد نصحتُ وبعد ذا

    نفسي فِدى مَن يَفهم

    I have advised and after this

    My soul is sacrificed for one who understands

  7. واللَه حسبي مَن يَعو

    قك إنما هي أسهُم

    By God, it is enough for me, one who perceives

    Your blindness, though to me it’s but arrows

  8. ومن العِذار يُخال رَقـ

    ـماً وهو عندي أرقم

    And the excuse which appears like

    A number, yet to me it's unnumbered

  9. باللَه خبِّرني أوص

    لي في الكِتاب محرَّم

    For God's sake, advise me or make

    Unlawful in scripture what's unlawful

  10. ودَمي حلالٌ ما أرى

    يُفتى بهذا مُسلم

    And my blood is lawful, I don't see

    It would be ruled so by a Muslim

  11. ولقد ذكرتُ زمانَنا

    والشَملُ عقدٌ يُنظَم

    And I have recalled our time

    When companionship was a braided rope

  12. فبكيتُه حتى بكت

    أَسفاً عليّ اللُوّم

    So I wept for it until I wept from grief

    Blame upon me from the blamers

  13. يا حادي الأَظعان قِف

    فلعلَّ أن يَتَلَوَّموا

    O guide of the most desolate places, stop

    Perhaps they will become disillusioned

  14. ولئن أقمتَ بِمُهجتي

    حيثُ اغتَدوا أو خيَّموا

    And if you stay in my lowlands

    Wherever they have pitched their tents or settled

  15. فأرى لواحظَ قاتِلي

    كم حيثُ أَلّا يَعلَموا

    I see that if my killer were to notice

    Wherever they said they knew not

  16. يا جيرَتي بِالمُنحَنى

    ما باِختِياري بِنتُم

    O my neighbor, with her swaying gait

    It was not by my choice that you wronged me

  17. لا أوحش اللَه الحِمى

    بِأُهَيل وُدّي مِنكُم

    May God not make desolate the protected grounds

    With my loving family from you

  18. ما كنتُمُ إلّا النَعيـ

    ـم مخلَّداً لو دُمتُم

    You were nothing but prosperity

    Everlasting, if only you had remained

  19. لا فارَقَتكم مُزنةٌ

    تَبكي البِلادَ فَتَبسم

    No misfortune parted you

    That makes the land weep, then smile
