A woman said: “I see you bent on youthful ardor,
though withering has crept through life’s bough.
And here is gray hair—its stars have kindled,
yet for their bearer, their rising is a setting.”
I answered her, while tears from my eyes
streamed down over those stars:
“Should I let life’s late afternoon go to waste,
when, of all times, late afternoon is sweetest?”
