وكم فلتات للصّنائع تُتّقى

عواقِبها إن لم تقع في محلِّها

How often are elaborate crafts to be avoided,

If their consequences do not fall in their rightful places.

كذا شهوات المرءِ إن لم تكنٌ له

موافقة عادت عليها بكلِّها

So too are the desires of a man, if they are not meant for him,

They will completely turn against him.
