I gazed upon your blossoming horizon,
Saud, from the revolving heavens,
So rejoice, for the necks of your enemies
Stretch out to your piercing sword.
And in no time, ruin will befall
Their treacherous, violating leader.
And the battleground's soil, when watered
By clouds of their blood, the red.
So how many killings of them by you!
Like the killing of a lurking lion.
You broke their cross by force—
May God reward you, O breaker!
And you changed all their traces—
Time has no mender for them.
And you fulfilled your ancestors' striving against them—
Woe to their stumbling ancestors!
So their kingdom in Syria retreated
And yesterday's defeat befell them.
Your armies are victorious through awe—
Charge whenever you wish, or be patient.
For all of them are drowning, destroyed,
In the torrent of your teeming army.
You took revenge for the religion of guidance against the enemies,
So may God prefer you, O avenger!
And you strove, enduring patiently—
May God reward you, O endurer!
Kings sleep on their beds,
Dressed in smooth silk.
And you prefer the life of holy war
To their pleasant, luxurious life.
And you keep your eyelids awake for the sake
Of One who will be pleased with your wakefulness.
You opened the Holy City from its land,
Returning it to its pure description.
You came to the Sanctuary of the Chosen One,
Saving it from the infidel's hand.
And you raised the minaret of guidance there
And revived its erased features.
How much storage has God prepared for you
Of these openings from the departed early time!
And after you visited it, He singled you out
With them, for your effort in the end.
Love for you is cast into souls
With your memory circulating in the world.
So when kings are mentioned, who is like you
Among the outstanding?
You lifted the debts of Mecca's people
With your all-encompassing, redounding charity.
And you secured the regions of those lands—
The journey is easy for the passerby.
And your hands pour forth,
On the arriving and the departing.
So how many in the East thank you,
And how many in the West are grateful!
And how much, each year in Mecca, is your name
Proclaimed by a public praiser!
And you remained a refuge in injustices—
That supply is for the spendthrift.
It violates the pilgrims of God's House,
With the tyranny of the unjust.
It reveals their secret intentions
And no more to say about a humbled stance.
And after being exposed, they are held
As if by a captor's hand.
And it imposes on them a vain oath—
The consequence of lying is on the sinner.
And if a sanctity appears between them,
It has no veil from it.
Does it not fear, tomorrow, displaying
Itself to the Able, Supreme King?
And it has no right to violate
The sanctities of the Muslims.
No watcher benefits warning it,
So shame on the warner of the shameless!
Except a counselor who conveys his counsel
To the victorious, supporting King.
An oppressor who appropriates the obligatory alms—
What a lossful deal for the loser!
He makes treason easy in private
And shows advice openly.
So make an incident befall him
That will mar the mention of his memory.
For prohibiting wrong, none can stop it
Except you, with authority's command.
And far be it from you, if you do not remove its precedent—
What is your stance among people then?
But lifting the likes of it expands
The mantle of your pride for the displayer.
And your magnificent traces will remain through them—
Those glorious deeds last forever.
I pledged advice truthfully for you
And loyalty's duty upon the fulfiller.
And love for you inspired me to poetry—
I do not seek the poet's connection.
Nor was its gain mine in the past—
Miserable merchandise for the merchant!
When poetry becomes the man's motto,
Then no more said for the renowned.
And if my verse is rarely excellent,
It is said, "No rule for the rare."
But it is the notions of passion
That engage and toy with thought.
As for visiting those high places,
He has won sublime honor.
And if you accept it,
That is generosity for the visitor.
And it suffices him your hearing as a listener
And your gaze as a watcher.
And he boasts, at the garden, the ardency of life
Through what he gained of your fragrant mention.
