هواكم بقلبي والفؤاد مقيم

وشوقي إليكم مقعد ومقيم

Your love resides in my heart, ever-present

And my yearning for you remains, steadfast

وأنتم لروحي روحها ونعيمها

فياحبذا روح لها ونعيم

You are the soul of my soul, its bliss

How wonderful a soul and its joy!

إذا ما دنوتم فالحياة لذيذة

وفي العيش خير والزمان سليم

When you draw near, life becomes sweet

Living holds goodness, time seems sound

ومهما بعدتم سادتي وجفوتم

فقلبي وجسمي واله وسقيم

However far you are, my lords, though aloof

My heart and body ache, ill and frail

وأحسن عيش ليس فيه وجودكم

وإن كن ملك الأرض فهو ذميم

No life without you is good living

Though I ruled the world, it would be vile

وكل سرور قد خلا عن وصلكم

فما هو إلا ترحة وغموم

All joy absent your union

Is but anguish and melancholy

فمنوا وجوداً باللقا وتعطفوا

وعودوا فإني فاقد وعديم

Come nearer in intimacy and show kindness

Return, for I am devoid and destitute

لمن تدعوني سادتي وأحبتي

لكل لئيم لا يزال يلوم

Why call me, my lords and beloved

When every rogue still finds fault?

أما ترحموا ذلي وضعفي وغربتي

وأنتم كرام والكريم رحيم

Do you not pity my state, weakness and exile?

You are noble, and the noble show mercy

رعى اللَه أياماً خلت في ربوعكم

بعيش هنيء لم تشبه هموم

May God preserve days gone in your lands

Spent in bliss, free of worries

وكنا وكنتم والزمان مساعد

وما ثم إلا مؤنس ونديم

We were together, and time an ally

Naught but companion and friend remained

فهل لليالي الماضيات بعودة

وإلّا فإني للحياة سئوم

Can past nights return?

Else, I'll grow weary of life

أأبقى كذا بين الأباعد ليس لي

أنيس حقيقي الوداد كتوم

Shall I remain thus, far removed, without

A true, intimate friend, his love concealed?

أسامره فيكم بأخبار حبكم

وفي بحر أسرار الوجود نعوم

I reminisce of your love through the night

Afloat in the sea of existence's secrets

وقد كان بالوادي وبالربع والحمى

رجال مصابيح الوجود نجوم

There were men, stars lighting existence

Who drank from the wine of fellowship

لهم من شراب القوم شرب ومن

حديث نجد حديثٌ طيب وقويم

Whose Najd talk was good, balanced

I was close to them, heart residing in heart

وكنت بهم وافي الجناحين سا

كن الفؤاد ويحيا إذ تهب نسيم

Time's betrayals took their company from me

For time is but treasonous, unjust

فأعدمني الدهر الخئون وجودهم

وما الدهر إلا خائن وظلوم

Now without loved ones, alone

Crestfallen, grieved, my heart stifled

وأصبحت من بعد الأحبة مفرداً

وحيداً ومحزون الفؤاد كظيم

Oh how many tears spilled for them

With only God eternal, beyond

فآه وآهٍ كم دموعٍ أسيلها

عليهم وما إلا الإله يدوم

So I praise Him, glorious His remembrance

All-Knowing, Ever-Living, Eternal

فأحمده سبحانه جل ذكره

عليم وحي قادر وقديم
